OUR JOURNEY
A Story of Growth, Passion, and Purpose
Every business begins with a spark of inspiration and ours is a story shaped by creativity, dedication, and a deep love for handmade artistry. Deshin Handmade has grown through meaningful moments, challenges, and milestones that continue to create who we are.

Deshin Handmade was born from the passion and love for handicrafts that grew since 2009. Inspired from the idea of her mother, the name “Deshin” is a combination of the names of two sisters: Devi and Shinta. Although at that time Shinta had not joined the business, her older sister, Milla Puspa Devi, had already taken the entrepreneurial path through a brand called Chinta Milla.
The younger sister, Dwi El Shinta or commonly known as Shinta never imagined that she would enter the world of handicrafts and entrepreneurship. Unlike her family who had sewing skills, Shinta chose a career path in the pharmaceutical sector and enjoyed her professional life in Surabaya, far from home activities.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, there were rules restricting social and economic activities that made many sectors experience difficult times. The decline in people’s purchasing power also caused many small businesses in Indonesia to eventually collapse and be unable to survive. However, in the midst of uncertainty, there is actually room to explore and create something new that is meaningful.
Deshin Handmade continues to grow over time, presenting handicraft products that are not only visually beautiful, but also have sustainable value. In 2019, Deshin Handmade took a big step in product evolution. They began to switch from using canvas to cork, an environmentally friendly material that is currently the main characteristic of handmade products.

Since its inception in 2009, Deshin Handmade has gone through a colorful journey. From just a hobby to a micro business that is active in various MSME activities and prestigious exhibitions, Deshin continues to grow as a creative actor in Batu City. Commitment to quality, innovation and cultural preservation is a strong foundation in every step. Deshin began to be actively involved in the UMKM world since 2017, joining the PKK mothers’ group and the Batu City Regional National Craft Council (Dekranasda) community. In the same year, Deshin also joined the Wahid Foundation, a women’s empowerment organization, where she received training in sewing and painting cloth. 2019 was an important milestone when Deshin began to seriously build business legality with PLUT (Integrated Business Service Center), obtaining a business license, NIB, NPWP, and assistance from the Batu City Diskoperindag.
